The Open University (OU) - the UK’s largest university and a global leader in distance-learning - and leading learning technologies firm, LEO, have launched a new partnership that will deliver online courses and platforms tailored specifically to the needs and goals of businesses and government organisations.
The partnership will bring together the world-class scalable learning of the OU, and combine it with LEO’s extensive expertise in digital learning within corporate and public businesses, to deliver a powerful and tailored learning offer to organisations within these sectors.
The learning solutions delivered by the OU and LEO together will drive efficiency, speed and responsiveness for a diverse and fast-moving corporate and public sector landscape. An initial offer of bespoke learning will focus on areas including leadership and management, commercial awareness and finance and engineering. This offer may extend and draw more widely on the OU’s curriculum and R&D and LEO’s wider expertise across other sectors in the future.
“The training needs of workforces and organisations are complex, and it’s not always possible, or indeed effective, to deliver an off-the-shelf option that works across multiple industries, goals and geographies. The OU has been delivering quality education that responds to workforce needs across the UK and globally for over 40 years, with four in five FTSE 100 companies sponsoring staff on our courses. Working with LEO will mean taking that offer and tailoring it even further to deliver learning solutions that align with the learning, development, organisational and commercial goals of corporate and government organisations.”
Ian Howell, Global Business Director at The Open University
“For years the OU has been supplying first-class education and training at distance. This is a capability that every government department and multinational is keen to acquire. Working together we can now combine the depth of the OU’s courses across areas such as management, leadership, finance, engineering, with our custom content and systems to address business issues head-on.”
