Summary
The Certificate of Higher Education in Community Policing Practice provides you the qualification required to complete the employer-sponsored Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Apprenticeship designed to meet the College of Policing’s Policing Education Qualification Framework (PEQF) and specifically the National Policing Curriculum. Each module you study is fully mapped to their learning outcomes and the Apprenticeship Standard for PCSOs. Your role within the police will be one of PCSO Student, where you will be exposed to police duties and be supported by a PCSO to help you gather evidence to support your learning.
You will gain a thorough understanding of the theory and knowledge relevant to be a Police Community Support Officer in the 21st Century which you will apply to your workplace practice.
The qualification is designed to be completed within a one‐year period and leads to the End-Point Assessment and meets the standards for the Police Community Support Officer Apprenticeship.
Qualifications achieved at the end of the programme:
- Certificate of Higher Education in Community Policing Practice
- Police Community Support Officer Apprenticeship, awarded by the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE)
- English and maths functional skills qualifications at Level 2, if not previously achieved
