Summary

Studying with the OU is the perfect way to realise your ambition of becoming a nurse. If you're currently working in a healthcare role, you'll be able to stay in work while you study – provided you have the support of your employer and can organise suitable practice experience. You'll explore four fields of nursing and ultimately choose a specialism from Adult, Children and Young People, Learning Disabilities, or Mental Health.

The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship is ideal for the development of existing Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) or Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) who meet the entry requirements and have demonstrated the capabilities and commitment needed to register with the NMC.

Qualifications achieved at the end of the programme:

Depending on the specialism:

  • BSc (Honours) Nursing (Adult)
  • BSc (Honours) Nursing (Children and Young People)
  • BSc (Honours) Nursing (Learning Disability)
  • BSc (Honours) Nursing (Mental Health)
  • Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship, awarded by the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE))

*Entry requirements include having evidence of achieving Level 2 or equivalent in English and maths - or completing these alongside the programme. See Full programme below for more information.

Please ensure that you download and read the full Module and Qualification Descriptor and Regulations prior to signing your registration agreement. Both documents must be read in conjunction with the Academic Regulations (Apprentices) which are available online via The Open University Student Policies and Regulations website.
